The Arun Ramamurthy Trio (ART) creates a groundbreaking fusion of South Indian Carnatic traditions and contemporary jazz, weaving masterful improvisations through ancient ragas and modern rhythms. Led by violinist Arun Ramamurthy alongside drummer Sameer Gupta and bassist Damon Banks, the trio explores themes of migration and ancestral wisdom through original compositions. Their "New Moon Suite," commissioned by Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works, premiered in NYC and showcases Ramamurthy's innovative approach. Their latest album New Moon, released by Greenleaf Music, has received widespread acclaim, and has been featured on World Music Central’s Global Music Top 40 albums. The ensemble has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bimhuis Amsterdam, Kennedy Center, and Pioneer Works.
